Financial Writer

1099 Contract Position

Job description:

Are you a finance nerd who gets excited to write about financial planning, tax law, and personal and business accounting? Come join our team!

Split Pace Creative is seeking a skilled financial writer to create accurate and engaging content for clients in the financial services sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial terminology and the ability to communicate information about complex topics using language that is confident, compelling, and provides clarity for readers.

As our financial content writer, you will demonstrate experience composing a wide variety of short-form and long-form content, including blogs, social media posts, and website content. You will work closely with our client success and content team to onboard new clients in the financial services space and to research, develop, and edit high-quality content tailored to each client.

The position will start with one blog in the first month, which will likely increase to 5–10 blogs monthly over the next quarter. LinkedIn content may accompany blog content for some clients, and website copy projects may also become available. Topics will be provided for each writing task; your primary responsibilities will be to research, outline, write, and edit content as needed. Schedule is 100% flexible provided deadlines are met.

NOTE: If you rely heavily on AI tools for content creation, please do NOT apply for this position. Our clients are high-end firms with exceptional brand stories that value content written by humans, for humans. The use of AI tools/LLMs to write content will result in immediate termination of contract.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate degree in related field

  • 5+ years of content writing experience

  • 2+ years of financially focused writing experience

  • Professional portfolio or applicable links/writing samples

  • Deep understanding of a wide range of financial topics, including but not limited to accounting and bookkeeping, tax planning and management, business consulting, financial advisory services, auditing and assurance, and compliance and risk management

  • Create content that matches the unique style, tone, and voice of each client

  • Communicate complex topics in easily understandable terms

  • Edit for clarity, grammar, spelling, consistency, and accuracy

  • Produce quality work with a commitment to improvement

  • Meet monthly work deadlines

Compensation:

Blog posts: $425 per post (expected: $2,125–$4,250 monthly)

LinkedIn posts: $20–$35 per post

Website copy: Determined per project, generally $400–$800 per page
